Kew Gardens has four entrance gates. This page should help you decide which gate is most suitable for your visit.

  • closest to Kew Gardens station (District Line and London Overground station 500 metres away)
  • Post code: TW9 3JR
  • adjacent to this gate is the Victoria Plaza which has a shop, cafe and toilet facilities
  • probably the most convenient for popular attractions such as the Palm House (100 metres from the entrance) and the Princess of Wales Conservatory (about 200 metres)
  • you can pick up the Kew Explorer service here. Free daily guided Tours also start here
  • parking is sometimes available on the Kew Road outside the gate.
  • note thre are no drop-off areas or dedicated disabled parking spaces outside this gate
  • bicycle racks are available
  • there are self-service lockers (subject to availablility) measuring 54cm x 33 cm x 44cm and 84cm x 33cm x 44cm (£1 fee). Tokens for these lockers are available from a self service machine located in the locker room or from the ticket office

Elizabeth Gate

  • closest to Kew Bridge mainline rail station (South West Trains station 800 metres away)
  • Post code: TW9 3AB
  • drop-off area right outside this gate and disabled spaces only a short distance away
  • closest to the Orangery Restaurant and Kew Palace (both about 200 metres from the gate)
  • convenient for visitors arriving at Kew Pier on Thames River Boat services from Westminster
  • bicycle racks are available outside the Gardens to the right of Elizabeth Gate
  • there are a limited number of lockers (subject to availability) measuring 25cm x 82cm x 27cm available at a cost of £1 payable at the ticket office

  • about 800 metres from the Palm House and 700 metres from the Princess of Wales Conservatory
  • bicycle racks are available outside the Gardens in Kew's Ferry Lane car park

Lion Gate

  • Lion Gate is the only gate in the southern part of the Gardens and is therefore much further from the popular attractions such as the Palm House, Princess of Wales Conservatory and the Climbers and Creepers children's play area. It is however closest to Kew's Pagoda (200 metres) and the Pavilion Restaurant (400 metres)
  • Post code: TW9 2DF
  • this area of the Gardens is consequently much quieter with fewer visitors
  • the nearest toilets are about 300 metres from the Gate, at the Pavilion Restaurant
  • nearest gate to Richmond Station (District Line, South West Trains and London Overground - 1km)
  • the 65 bus service between Ealing Broadway and Kingston, via Richmond station and town centre, stops outside Lion Gate
